BE MY HERO
Would you be my hero?
Please give platelets.
An Educate to Donate Initiative
to empower a new generation of heroes.
Everyone wants to be a hero.
But many believe they may never get the chance.
Now Your Students Can.
The American Red Cross Greater Ozarks Region Blood Services Region is reaching out to schools, encouraging participation in Would You Be My Hero? Campaign. With and emphasis on civic responsibility, this educational initiative teaches the importance of regular platelet donation and provides students hands-on experience by allowing them to work a real fixed site drive.
But, most importantly, this initiative helps save lives. Thus, a new generation of heroes are born.
Red Cross Blood Services assists the students every step of the way, providing guidance and knowledge. In turn, the students take what they learn and help recruit teachers, friends and family to give platelets.
This initiative involves solid goals that will serve to:
Educate students on civic responsibility
Enhance educational curriculum; engage learning
through tools such as games, handouts, experiments
and other various teaching tools.
Encourage unity among children, parents and teachers;
provide student and school recognition; deliver a quality,
volunteer experience
The objectives below will help students meet the goals above:
Develop an understanding of the Red Cross and the
humanitarian services provided locally, nationally and
internationally
Identify the various components of blood and the
significance of each one; comprehend the numerous
needs for blood and blood products; learn the eligibility
requirements for blood donors and basic platelet recruit
ment strategies
Hold a successful platelet drive
Most Important, students could help save lives.
